The text below is the first revision of a chapter from the upcoming The Salvador Dali Cyfer!
PORTRAIT OF MY SISTER
“Pfeelmi!” Pfeelmi heard the voice of Pleud. Suddenly she was back in the museum looking at the painting. “Pfeelmi!” Pleud’s voice finished snapping her out of her trance. She looked at Pleud and saw her frantically waving her arm at her to come to where she was standing.
Pfeelmi looked back at the Anthropomorphic Echo. The painting was normal; well, as normal as any Dali painting. She turned and started walking to Pleud. Her hand went to her mouth but there was no taste and no evidence of blood. Yet it all seemed so real.
Pleud stood looking at the Portrait of My Sister. When Pfeelmi came up she excitedly exclaimed “Look! Look!” They both turned and looked at a painting that looked like it might be on a Queen of Spades playing card. The sisters’ head was duplicated both right side up and upside down. If the portrait were rotated 180 degrees one couldn’t tell which is the top or the bottom of the oil. The top side head looked normal and the bottom head looked cubist. There was no torso just a seemingly white shirt. What would be the right arm of each head came towards each chin. An obscured book was in the lower right of the painting.
Pfeelmi looked dumbly at the portrait and then at Pleud. Her mind was still processing eating a heart.
“What?!” Pleud exclaimed. “No!” She grabbed Pfeelmi while pointing at the portrait. “It’s gone! I saw it though. But…but…but it’s gone now!”
Pfeelmi looked at her with dull not-understanding eyes. “I saw your head in the picture!” Pleud said. “Both you and Piperswife! Yours was the top head and Piperswife’s head was the bottom head.” She pointed to the book. “And this book here! It was titled The Book of Surrealism!” Pleud looked at the portrait. “But…it’s gone now” she haltingly stated. “But…it was so real!” She shook her head. “I must be losing my mind!”
Pfeelmi hugged Pleud. She looked around to see an Observer staring at them. “I believe you” Pfeelmi said. “Let’s find Piper and get the outer limits out of here!” She nodded to the next wall to maneuver around. “Let’s hurry and see if we can ditch our tail” she said.
They hurried around the corner into a niche area. On the wall in front of them was a huge canvas. It was 10 feet tall and 13 feet wide. The painting showed a robed figure looking out at a representation of resurrection in the sky. The right side of the painting had cubes formed by sets of 4 Arabs pointing a rifle at each other’s head…as well as their shadows doing the same. It was all so Galacidalacidesoxiribunucleicacid.
The robed figure turned and looked at them. It was a woman with pure white eyes and an evil grin.
The Arabs rotated their bodies so that their rifles pointed at Pfeelmi and Pleud. They fired their weapons. The bullets formed 2 sets of cubes; one set struck Pleud and the other struck Pfeelmi.
The sisters looked at each other. They heard a Star Trekkie transporter style sound in the air. Their bodies broke apart into little cubes and streamed up into the resurrection cloud. The robed figure laughed.
Around the niche corner The Observer appeared. He looked at the painting. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. He raised a Spock like eyebrow before turning and leaving.
